The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have jointly launched AIxAccountancy, an AI fluency programme targeting the accountancy and corporate finance community.
The initiative is designed to equip practitioners with the ability, confidence and practical knowledge to use AI tools “effectively and responsibly” in their roles.
AIxAccountancy supports the ISCA’s broader push to increase AI proficiency across the profession and aligns with its goal of upskilling 60,000 accountancy and corporate finance professionals over three years.
The programme is the first training course created through the IMDA’s collaboration with professional bodies under the National AI Impact Programme.
The partnership aims to train 100,000 non-technical workers to become “AI bilingual” within the same time frame.
Before its formal launch, more than 20,000 people from both public and private sector organisations, including tertiary students, had already registered interest in joining the programme, signalling “strong demand” for AI-related training.
The Singapore Accountant-General’s Department is planning to integrate AIxAccountancy into the learning and development framework for all 4,000 finance and internal audit officers in the public sector.
To encourage broad participation, the programme will be offered at no charge to ISCA members who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents, including students from local tertiary institutions.
AIxAccountancy will be implemented in two stages, allowing participants to first build foundational competencies before moving to more advanced applications.
Learners will work directly with widely used AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini.
The curriculum will be updated regularly so that course content remains aligned with current industry practices and technologies.
Participants will also gain access to AI Nexus, a dedicated hub where accountancy and finance professionals learn, share experiences and exchange AI adoption resources.
ISCA president Lee Boon Teck said: “AI is reshaping the future of the accountancy profession.
“AIxAccountancy is more than a training programme. It is a national profession transformation initiative that equips accountants and finance professionals with the skills and confidence to create greater value for businesses and society.”
“ISCA, IMDA roll out AI training initiative for accountancy sector” was originally created and published by The Accountanta GlobalData owned brand.
